Fiber Optic Communications
D3000 21.4X
This study module introduces students to Digital Communications and Fiber Optics through a wide range of practical activities. This module provides students with a range of hands-on activities based around a complete fiber optic communication system. Typical topic areas include: Light in optical fibers, optical and electrical characteristics of optical fibers, analog/digital communications via optical fibers, pulse width modulation, pulse position modulation, and fiber optic troubleshooting.
This study module is ideal for use within the DIGIAC modular electronics program. It comprises a circuit board and a set of student lab sheets, housed in a molded plastic storage case. When used in conjunction with a student PC, the labsheets are fully compatible with the ClassAct computer managed learning system. Each lab sheet covers a specific topic area and provides background theory, practical activities and student assesment questions. Each lab sheet is designed around a list of performance objectives. These objectives are used by the ClassAct management system to generate a student competency report.
An instructor's solution book is also included, providing solutions to all of the questions and practical activities contained in the labsheets. The study module is also supported by optional computer aided instruction (CAI) material.
