Simulator - Virtual DataLab
The Virtual Data Lab is a fully interactive computer simulation of a working science laboratory. This simulation provides students with an excellent introduction to datalogging within the science lab, without the expense of buying all the equipment you would need to allow all the students to experiment at the same time.
The lab comes pre-installed with two environments. One for physics and one for biology. More environments and experiments for each environment will become available to install into your Virtual Data Lab software.
The Biology Lab allows students to investigate photosynthesis within a range of plants. The correlation between light level and oxygen production can be explored and discovered through experimentation.
The Physics Lab allows an investigation of Newton’s Second Law of Motion using a dynamics station. Students can alter the mass of an object and the forces applied to it, and then view the effect on the object’s velocity and acceleration.
The simulation uses a four-port virtual datalogger. It can sample in three modes: Basic, Precision and Manual.
The simulation displays data captured with the data logger in tabular and graphical form. Data can be analyzed within the Virtual Lab software or can be exported for analysis in Excel. Data can be printed and saved for later use.
Each environment has a selection of sensors that can be chosen and connected to the ports of simulated data logger.
