Why is STEM Important?
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is relevant to every aspect of our lives and instilling in students an understanding of how STEM skills impact our economy is of vital importance.
Nine out of ten firms in the developed world need to employ STEM-skilled people within their workforce. Yet, employers across all sectors are reporting a lack of STEM based skills; and at the same time there is a significant decrease in the number of students following STEM related progression opportunities.
To improve this situation and ensure a secure and sound future for both our children and the global economy, it is vital that an exciting STEM philosophy is integrated into our learning.
Students should not only understand the relevance of STEM in education and the career opportunities available, but also be enthused to explore and take up these opportunities further.
