This teaching set introduces students to signal sampling and reconstruction, time division multiplexing, pulse code modulation and error detection/correction through a wide range of practical activities. The teaching set includes three curriculum manuals, a signal sampling & reconstruction module, a time division multiplexed pulse amplitude modulation module and a pulse code modulation transmitter/receiver system. When used in conjunction with a student PC, each curriculum manual is fully compatible with the ClassAct computer managed learning system. Each of the curriculum manuals is divided into a series of chapters. Each chapter covers a specific topic area and provides background theory, practical activities and student assessment questions. Each curriculum manual chapter is designed around a list of performance objectives. These objectives are used by the ClassAct management system to generate a student competency report.

An instructor's guide is included for each curriculum manual. This provides solutions to all of the questions and practical activities contained in the curriculum manual.
