HGV Electrical Systems
PT 7.6
The PT 7.6 study module allows students to investigate the electrical systems of heavy vehicles through a wide range of practical activities.
It includes a computer-linked panel trainer that simulates the operation of the electrical circuits used in trucks and buses.
Computer-inserted faults allow the student to perform troubleshooting tasks on the panel trainer.
In addition to the panel trainer, the study module also includes a digital multimeter, accessory kit, interface cable, and student laboratory manual.
When used in conjunction with a student personal computer (PC), the laboratory manual is fully compatible with the ClassAct computer managed learning system.
For each topic area, the laboratory manual provides background theory, practical activities, troubleshooting worksheets and student assessment questions.
Each chapter of the laboratory manual is designed around a list of performance objectives. These objectives are used by the ClassAct management system to generate a student competency report.
An instructor’s solutions book is available, providing solutions to all of the questions and practical activities contained in the laboratory manual.
Typical topic areas include:
- Battery and fuses
- Starter and solenoid
- Horn and relays
- Park, tail and headlights
- Turn signal and hazard warning lights
- Brake and backup lights
- Auxiliary lighting
- Alternator charging systems
