Simulator - Virtual Sustainable Energy
VENG1/SL
Virtual Sustainable Energy is an application which allows the user to explore the generation of electricity in various scenarios. Each scenario is based upon a set of targets for power, cost and carbon emissions.
To achieve these targets the user investigates different forms of power generation and decides which is most appropriate to meet the scenario targets. Power plants can be rebuilt and demolished; forests are cut down and replanted to create a strategic energy production proposal for each scenario. Scenarios
There are 8 scenarios to complete; each with their own unique set of problems to solve.
Scenarios include:
- Capital City – Phase 1
- Holiday Island – Phase 1
- South Port – Phase 1
- Holiday Island – Phase 2
- South Port – Phase 2
- Desert Valley
- Capital City – Phase 2
- Big Country
Power Stations
The energy requirements of each scenario can be provided by using various types of energy.
Types of energy available include:
- Coal
- Gas
- Wind
- Solar
- Hydroelectric
- Geothermal
- Nuclear
- Biomass
Supporting Theory Material
Interactive theory applications provide supporting material for all types of energy production available within the simulator.
