Why is the computer reporting that the data transfer rate is not sufficient?

  • If, during capture, you receive a message informing you that the "Data transfer rate is not sufficient", you should test the speed of the hard drive which you are capturing video to. Use the software called DVRaptest that is included with the DV Raptor capture card.
  • DV transfer requires a data rate of 5MB/s to the hard drive. Modern hard drives have a data transfer rate of between 7 and 30 MB/s

Possible causes of a low rata transfer rate can be:

  • PCI latency - a BIOS setting.
  • IDE setup - how the hard drives are connected.
  • DMA - How the hard drives are setup.
