Why do I have an additional lesson (Impact on the Sun's Energy) in my Exploring Science module when I didn't order it, and why does it not work?

Issue:

Customers with the Exploring Science range of modules installed from CD1348 Issue B, will see an additional lesson (Impact on the Sun’s Energy) installed on their system. This is due to an error in the production of the custom-made CD-ROMs and should not normally be made visible.

Note: Customers who have ordered the Impact on the Sun’s Energy lesson will see two entries. The first entry will function correctly, the second will not work as intended.

Correction:

  1. Identify the location of the module. Depending on the type of installation, the location of the files will be typically either:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\LJ Technical Systems\ClassAct\Content\M2774501

    or C:\LJCAI\MANUALS\HTML\M2774501

  2. Within the folder M2774501, locate the folder C021 and delete it.


  3. Within the folder M2774501, make a backup copy of the file "lj_mnfst.xml".


  4. Edit the original lj_mnfst.xml file using Notepad. (Do NOT use a word processing package or webpage package such as Microsoft Word or FrontPage).  Note: by default if you open this file it will open in Internet Explorer. You cannot edit this file using Internet Explorer!


  5. From the Edit menu in Notepad, use the Find tool to locate the following text:
    <ChapterInfo Number="21" Name="Impact of the Sun’s Energy"/>
    and delete it.


  6. Save the lj_mnfst.xml file. All references to the rogue lesson should be removed.
